The rounded silhouette of the Luberon stretches from the Alps to the Vaucluse plain, and watches over Provence.
The gentle climate, harmonious landscapes and the wealth of its plant species make it a country apart. Here each wall reveals man’s attachment to this land.
In Neolithic times, men already lived under the white rocks of the Luberon. Warriors, merchants and travellers then travelled down the Domitian Way, the oldest route in France, which went across the region.
And the farmers have always kept a varied agriculture: orchards, cereals and sheep.
Since 1977, this 185,000-hectares territory is a land where life is good and which is protected and enhanced by the Luberon Natural Regional Park.
Actions are carried out in the respect of the local places and traditions: reopening of trails, rehabilitation of the habitat, protection of endangered species, etc.

The Luberon Biosphere Reserve, it became clear that collaboration could be expanded and diversified within the framework of an expanded Biosphere Reserve, an approach that was approved by UNESCO in June 2010.
