La Maison du Bois et de la Forêt is a contemporary museum, with 3 discovery zones, where you can find out more about the timber industry and mountain forests.
In the wood crafts area, you can discover the work of 8 craftsmen from the Southern Alps. It’s the perfect opportunity to take home a unique souvenir!
In the museum area, you can discover the life of trees, forests and their biodiversity, thanks in particular to an exhibition from the Mercantour National Park. You can touch and smell the different tree species.
The second part of the exhibition is devoted to the wood industry, with all the different trades and uses of this noble and renewable material. There’s also a children’s area with wooden games, a tunnel to help you understand the forest floor, a tree with hiding places… Almost everything here is made of wood!
The equipped workshop, where our guide will show you how to work with wood during a woodturning demonstration. The highlight of the visit is a demonstration of how to create an object from a piece of rough wood. Anecdotes and amusing explanations about wood and its crafts will not be missed during this demonstration. And if you still have questions, our host will be delighted to answer them.
The Maison du Bois et de la Forêt also offers regular woodworking workshops for children, as well as tours of the old hydraulic sawmill, a jewel in the crown of the local historical heritage.
