Ecomusée tailleur et bugade

Ecomusée tailleur et bugade

Book in advance at the Tourist Office, then go to the Rue Basse. Discover some of the village’s best-kept secrets: the tailor and the bugade.

The tailor: Monsieur Pélissier was the last tailor in the village. When he gave up his shop in 1927, he took with him a skill that has now disappeared. Nothing has changed in his workshop – everything was there nearly a century ago.

La bugade: in Provençal, ‘bugada’ means washing. You won’t find a washing machine or tumble dryer here, but a fireplace, a vat and beating racks will transport you back to the days when washing powder was ‘poured’ just twice a year.
How was laundry scented? What is a florier? Why is there ash in the bugade?
Our guided tour will give you all the answers!
Rediscover a place of hard work but also of conviviality…
