Wednesday 16 July 2025 at 9pm is ‘Place à la Musique’. Join the NATIONAL ORCHESTRA OF SYLDAVIA and its 5 musicians who will transport you with ardour and exuberance to the furthest reaches of Eastern Europe !
What’s on the programme?
A journey to the far reaches of Eastern Europe, where nostalgia and melancholy have always rubbed shoulders with enthusiasm, exuberance and human warmth…
A blend of musical tradition handed down for generations and the personal compositions of Martin Piatek, of Polish origin, the group’s accordionist…
Why Syldavia?
Because this country, invented by Hergé in the adventures of Tintin and the Ottokar Sceptre, is a unique blend of all the Slavic, Gypsy, Balkan and even Ottoman cultures that have permeated Eastern Europe for centuries.
Why a ‘National Orchestra’?
Because, as far as we know, this country didn’t yet have one!
As for the orchestra’s ‘national’ status, it’s a funny thing to attribute such an official distinction to an imaginary country!
The ‘nationality’ of this stateless orchestra is therefore infinite, and they can sing Polish, Hungarian, Russian or even Roma… without a care in the world!
Who are the members of the orchestra?
Jacotte Recolin: violin & vocals
Loïc Hoareau: violin & vocals
Martin Piatek: accordion & vocals
Lucas Guillaneux: guitar & vocals
Adrien Coulomb: double bass & vocals
‘A festive outburst that will leave your legs tingling and you furiously wanting to hit the road’.
‘The 5 musicians of the National Orchestra of Syldavia carry us along on the thread of these melodies and weave with us the desire to know, to sing and to dream this universe so far away, so close…’
